165 Cameroonian Residence Violators Depart Kuwait
Within the initiative of Kuwait exempting residency law violators from paying fines and catering for all expenses of their return home, some 165 members of the Cameroonian community left Kuwait Wednesday aboard Kuwait Airways on a direct flight home, reports Al-Anba daily. In an exclusive statement to the daily, the ambassador of Guyana Shamir Ali said he accompanied the Cameroonians at the request of his colleague, the Ambassador of Cameroon to Riyadh due to the absence of an embassy for his country in Kuwait, noting such cooperation is known in the world of diplomacy, especially in the difficult times the whole world is going through due to the outbreak of COVID-19. Ambassador Shamir praised Kuwait, its leadership, the government and people for the humanitarian gesture, stressing that His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad has proven to be a true ruler who loves his people and the good of all people. “It is no surprise that he received the title of the Global Humanitarian Leader from the United Nations, because I have witnessed the great work his highness the Amir puts into resolving various issues around the world, praising the outstanding performance of the Kuwaiti government in addressing the Coronavirus pandemic, which calls for admiration, as human interests have been placed above all considerations, while the government is doing everything it can to ensure the comfort and safety of all citizens and expatriates”, he noted. Ambassador Ally added “I also noticed sadness in the faces of the departing Cameroonians, as their eyes were overflowing with tears. They expressed grief at leaving Kuwait and continued all day thanking Kuwait for her kindness and generosity through the amnesty that spared them financial liabilities”. On the flight procedures, Ambassador Shamir Ally explained that everyone at Kuwait International Airport displayed the highest level of cooperation, generosity, hospitality and good treatment to the passengers and provided all requirements of comfort and safety with commitment to the preventive measures, pointing out that about 15 specialized employees from the Ministry Health were available to conduct swabs on the passengers to ensure their safety. Ambassador Ally concluded by thanking His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad, His Highness the Crown Prince, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Finance, the Minister of Interior, the Minister of Health, workers in civil aviation, Kuwait Airport, the Ministry of Health, and everyone who facilitated the return of all 165 Cameroonians to their home country safe and sound.
